Beta Programme
- Desktop app
- Pro
What it does
Some features open to a small group before everybody. The people in that group are beta testers: they see the features still being tested, switch each one on or off for themselves, receive the beta build the night before the public release, and get 10 percent of every invoice back as long as they stay in. The programme is self-serve: two conditions, checked live in the app, and joining is instant when they are met. Nobody sends an invitation and nobody waits for approval.
Where to find it
- Settings > Beta. The tab is first in the list for a tester and last for everybody else.
- The Beta programme link in the footer of the Settings window opens the same tab.
- Pro subscribers who are not members see a banner at the foot of the account menu, titled Beta programme: 10% off your invoices ("New features before everyone else. Reserved for our most loyal subscribers."). The percentage shown is the one the server applies.
- Once you are in, a message in your private thread with the AgentsRoom team offers the beta testers' community room (see Community Rooms).
How to use it
- Open Settings > Beta. Under Conditions, each one shows whether it is already met: Pro for at least 3 months in a row (the streak of the subscription live today; a comped Pro term or a team seat has no start date and does not count), 5 pieces of feedback handled by the team in the last 6 months (a report that shipped or a message the team answered; submitting alone does not count).
- When both are green, Join the programme unlocks by itself. Click it: membership starts immediately ("Member since {date}").
- Under Features being tested, turn any feature off for this account if it gets in your way. Nothing is forced on you.
- Use Message the team to report anything odd, broken, slow or confusing: this is the whole point of the programme.
- Leave the beta programme from the same tab whenever you want.
What is currently in the list depends on the moment; the tab is the source of truth. Entries have included Cloud Agents, Voice mode, Remote SSH offload, Open space, Usage breakdown, the Canary build, and the two build channels "Latest bug fixes" and "Latest features".
Settings
betaFeatureOptOut(global, Settings > Beta): the beta features this account switched off for itself, by flag id. It can only remove a feature you got because you are a tester; once a feature is public for everyone, the entry stops having any effect.
Agent tools (MCP)
None.
Providers
All providers, no difference.
Mobile
Not on the mobile companion. Joining, leaving and switching beta features are desktop gestures; a beta feature that has a mobile side (for example Cloud Agents) follows the account.
Limits
- Requires three months of Pro in a row, counted from the start of the subscription live today (Stripe or App Store). A comped Pro term or a Team seat does not build a streak; an admin can still add such an account by hand.
- Only feedback the team actually acted on counts, within the last six months. The thresholds shown in the tab come from the server and can change.
- Membership lasts as long as Pro does. When Pro ends (a cancelled subscription reaching the end of its paid period, an App Store expiry, a comped term running out), the tester leaves the programme within a few hours, and rejoining takes three months of Pro in a row again. The feedback condition is checked at entry only.
- The 10 percent reward is a credit on your Stripe balance, taken off the next invoice. It adds to a regional price and to referral rewards.
- Beta builds carry normal version numbers; a tester can be one version ahead of the public release and is moved back cleanly if a beta is cancelled.
Common questions
-
I stopped Pro and I am no longer a beta tester, why? Membership lasts as long as Pro does. Subscribe again and, after three months of Pro in a row, the Join button unlocks again.
-
How do I become a beta tester? Settings > Beta: meet the two conditions and click Join the programme. There is no request to send.
-
I am Pro but the button is locked. Either the Pro streak is shorter than 3 months or the feedback count is not reached yet; the tab shows both counts ("1 / 3", "1 / 5").
-
Can I keep a beta feature off? Yes, each feature has its own switch in the tab.
-
Do I pay for the beta? No, the opposite: 10 percent of each invoice comes back as credit while you are a member.
-
Can an admin add me? The team can enrol an account by hand; you get the welcome message in the chat.
