AI Helpers Allowance

What it does
Your coding agents run on your own CLI subscription, but a few small helpers inside AgentsRoom call an AI model on the AgentsRoom side: voice dictation, Voice Mode, Read Aloud, agent suggestions, AI commit messages, the SQL assistant, CLI diagnostics (CLI doctor), AI summaries, translations, Adaptive Model suggestions and the AI Suggestion intent screen. Each plan includes a monthly amount of each; the amount resets at the start of every month. Once an amount is used up you have three ways to keep going: attach your own OpenAI API key, recharge the month (Pro), or buy voice credits for the voice features.
Where to find it
- Settings > Account: the card Included in your Free / Plus / Pro plan this month lists each helper with
{used} / {limit}(minutes for voice, counts for the others, "Unlimited" on Pro rows). - Below it, Extra AI usage offers the two ways to keep working: Your OpenAI API key and Recharge your month.
- Voice credits card (same tab): balance, "≈ {hours} h of voice", Buy credits.
- Site: the Monthly recharge page (
/credits) and the Free / Pro table on/pricing.
How to use it
- Open Settings > Account and read the gauge: it shows what is left this month for each helper.
- Attach your own key: paste an OpenAI key (starts with
sk-) under Your OpenAI API key, Save. Pick when it is used: Only when the included amount runs out (your allowance is spent first) or Always (every call runs on your key, your allowance is never touched). OpenAI bills those calls to you directly; nothing is taken from your credits. - Recharge your month (Pro): one purchase restores the full monthly allowance of every helper right away. It is one-time, not a subscription, and costs half the Pro price. The counter "Already recharged this month: {times}" keeps track.
- Buy credits: voice credits power Voice Mode (and dictation past its included time). One-time purchase, they never expire.
Settings
None exposed to agents. The OpenAI key and its mode live in Settings > Account.
Agent tools (MCP)
None. (usage_overview reports the usage bars of your CLI providers, not this allowance.)
Providers
All providers, no difference: these helpers run on the AgentsRoom side, independently of the CLI your agents use.
Mobile
The phone shows the same balance state for dictation: when voice credits run out, an "Out of voice credits" sheet offers Use this device (free on-device transcription, lower accuracy). Attaching an OpenAI key and recharging are done on the desktop.
Limits
Monthly amounts as printed on the pricing page (Free / Pro; Plus stays at the Free level for every metered helper):
- Voice dictation: 5 min / mo on Free, 30 min / mo on Plus, 3h / mo on Pro, then voice credits.
- Voice Mode: pay as you go / 2h / mo. Read aloud: pay as you go / 2h / mo.
- Agent suggestions: 5 / mo / Unlimited. AI commit messages: 5 / mo / Unlimited.
- AI error diagnosis (CLI doctor): 15 / mo / Unlimited. AI SQL queries: 5 / mo / Unlimited.

- Adaptive Model suggestions: 100 / mo / 1,000 / mo. AI Suggestion analyses: 25 / mo / Unlimited.

- Cloud agent minutes are a separate allowance (see Cloud Agents).
Common questions
- Why does a helper stop working mid-month? Its included amount is used up. Attach your own OpenAI key, recharge the month (Pro), or wait for the reset on the 1st.
- Does my own key cost me AgentsRoom credits? No. Calls on your key are billed by OpenAI to you, and your credits are untouched.
- Do voice credits expire? No.
- Is a recharge a subscription? No, a single purchase for the current month. The allowance resets by itself every month, recharge or not.
- Which helpers does the key cover? Voice dictation, Voice Mode, agent suggestions, AI commit messages, SQL assistant and CLI diagnostics.
