# Welcome Chat

## What it does

The first screen of a fresh install (no project yet) is a short conversation with the AgentsRoom mascot. It asks what you want to do, one simple question at a time, then offers ONE button that takes you there: open the project you already have (it searches your computer for the folder by its name), plan and create the app you have in mind, create a workspace for a task that is not software (texts, marketing, documents), import from GitHub or GitLab, show a demo, or install an AI agent first when none is installed. It answers in your app language. Since 2026-09-29 it is also what the **Build** mode of the projects home search bar opens, so the question "what do you want to do" is answered by the same conversation whether you have no project or fifty.

## Where to find it

- The launchpad: the screen shown when no project exists, box **Let's get you started** ("A few questions, then one button").
- The three classic options (open a folder, import, demo) stay available underneath for people who prefer to choose themselves.
- Once you have projects: the projects home search bar, selector set to **Build**. The same conversation opens under the bar; the selector stays above it so **Projects** (search) is one click away.

## How to use it

1. Tap an answer (**I have a project on this computer**, **I have an idea, nothing yet**, **I'm not a developer**, **Just looking around**) or type your own.
2. Answer the mascot's questions (a few at most).
3. Press the button it offers: **Find my folder**, **Choose my folder**, **Plan my project**, **Create my workspace**, **Import from GitHub**, **Import from GitLab**, **Show me a demo**, **Install a free agent**, **Install my AI tool** or **Talk to the team**.
4. **Find my folder** lists the matching folders found on your computer: click the right one, it opens as a project with an agent and a first prompt ready (you press Send). **Choose another folder** opens the system folder picker.

## Providers

All providers. With no agent installed, the chat offers the free agent (Freebuff: no API key, no plan, no card) or the setup assistant before anything else.

## Mobile

Not on the phone: its actions (search the computer's disk, open a local folder) only make sense on the desktop.

## Limits

- Works without an account. Rate-limited per IP.
- The folder search runs on your computer only; the paths it finds are never sent anywhere. It looks by folder name, in your usual folders, for a few seconds: a folder named differently from what you typed may be missed, use **Choose another folder** then.
- On macOS, when your project lives in Documents or Desktop and Spotlight does not index folders there (iCloud Desktop & Documents), the search may ask once for access to that folder.
- Your messages and the answers are stored by AgentsRoom (with an English rendering) to improve this screen; this is described in the site's privacy policy.
- The first prompt is pre-filled, never sent for you.

## Common questions

- **What does "open a folder" mean?** AgentsRoom works inside a folder of your computer: the agent reads and writes the files of that folder for you. Say what you want to do and the chat picks the right folder, or creates one.
- **I am not a developer, is this for me?** Yes for writing, marketing or document work: the chat creates a workspace with an agent ready for your task.
- **It did not find my folder.** Use **Choose another folder**, or type another word of the folder name.
- **Can I skip the chat?** Yes: the classic options (open a folder, import, demo) are under it.
- **What happened to the one-question bar with its suggestion chips?** Replaced by this conversation on 2026-09-29, on the first screen and in the **Build** mode of the projects home: the chips answered a question many newcomers had not asked, and most of what people typed there was a sentence, not a command.
