## What it does

Since 2026-10-20, AgentsRoom lists the projects you already have on your computer, the most active first, so a new user does not start from an empty screen. It finds them in two places: the folders where your Claude Code and Codex conversations ran (with their date and number of sessions), and the git repositories of your usual code folders. One click on a project opens the project creation window already filled in with that folder (path, name, detected logo): you check the logo, colour and zone, then create it.

The same first launch also sorts the agent step: the CLIs found on your computer come first, ticked as **Installed**, the others are folded under **Other providers (N)**.

## Where to find it

- Sidebar, **Projects** tab, while you have no project: the list (five rows, then **Show N more**) takes the place of **No projects yet**; **Open your first project** stays below it.
- The **Open a project** window, while you have no project: the list under its empty state.
- The welcome chat of the first launch: a **Found on this computer** box under the greeting, until you type something.
- The projects home, once you have at least one project: an **On this computer** section under your groups (one row of cards, **Show all (N)**), with only the folders not yet in AgentsRoom. It hides while a search or a filter is active.

## How to use it

1. Open AgentsRoom with no project (or scroll to **On this computer** on the projects home).
2. Hover a row: a **+** button replaces the agents and age shown on it. Click the row or the button.
3. The project creation window opens on that folder. Adjust the name, logo, colour or zone, then create the project.

On macOS, Documents and Desktop are not searched by default, because reading them makes macOS ask for permission. Click **Also search in Documents** ("macOS will ask for permission once.") to include them; the list refreshes while "Searching Documents…" shows.

## Settings

None.

## Agent tools (MCP)

None.

## Providers

The activity history is read from Claude Code and Codex. Projects used only with other CLIs still appear when they are git repositories in your usual code folders.

## Mobile

Not on the phone: opening a folder of the computer's disk has no meaning there, and the mobile app has no first screen without a project.

## Limits

- The folder paths never leave your computer; nothing is stored on the server.
- At most 30 projects are kept. Your home folder, temporary folders, Downloads, hidden folders (agent worktrees for example) are left out, and a subfolder where an agent ran is grouped under its project.
- Nothing shows while the disk is read or when nothing is found: the screen keeps its usual empty state.
- The disk is read once per session (results kept five minutes).
- On Windows and Linux, Documents is always included and the **Also search in Documents** link never shows.
- A folder deleted since its last conversation can still be listed; opening it says "This folder no longer exists".

## Common questions

- **Why is my project missing from the list?** It is listed only if a Claude Code or Codex conversation ran in it, or if it is a git repository in your usual code folders. On macOS, a project in Documents or Desktop needs **Also search in Documents**. Otherwise use **Open your first project** and pick the folder.
- **Does AgentsRoom send my folder list anywhere?** No, the search runs on your computer and the paths stay there.
- **Why does clicking a project open a window instead of adding it right away?** So you can pick its logo, colour and zone before it is created.
- **Why did macOS ask for access to my Documents?** Only after you clicked **Also search in Documents**; AgentsRoom does not read that folder before.
