# Live settings sync and Machines

> Your settings live on your AgentsRoom account, and every computer signed in to it shows the same values.

## What it does

Your settings live on your AgentsRoom account, and every computer signed in to it shows the same values. When you change a setting on one computer (a global setting, a project setting, dev commands, saved servers and databases, prompt and skill libraries, teams, quota rules, AI accounts...), the other computers that are on at that moment re-read it right away: no restart, no waiting. A computer that was asleep or offline re-reads everything when it reconnects.

The manual order of your saved servers, databases, Kubernetes clusters and saved agents now follows your account too. It used to stay on the computer where you dragged the rows.

The **Machines** chip of the status bar lists every computer of your account: the ones on right now (green dot, with the number of projects they announce) and the others with when they were last seen. Under them, the **SSH servers** block lists the servers this computer sends agents to (see [Remote SSH Offload](https://agentsroom.dev/docs/remote-ssh-offload.md)).

## Where to find it

- Live sync: nothing to turn on. It works as soon as you are signed in.
- Machines: the **Machines** chip in the status bar, between **Mobile** and **Chrome**. Right-click the status bar to show or hide it.

## How to use it

1. Change a setting, reorder your servers, edit a dev command on one computer.
2. Look at another computer of the same account: the change is already there.
3. Open **Machines** to see which computers are on. Hover an offline computer and click the trash icon twice to remove it from the list. A computer that starts again comes back on its own.

## Settings

- `uiElements.footer.machines` (global, right-click the status bar or Settings > Interface elements): shows or hides the Machines chip. Visible by default in the Full interface mode, folded in Simple and Balanced.

## Agent tools (MCP)

None of their own. A setting an agent writes over MCP (`settings_set` on a project, `teams_save`, `skills_save`, `prompts_save`, triggers...) is synced the same way: your other computers, and the open panels of this one, re-read it at once.

## Providers

All providers, no difference.

## Mobile

The phone announces the settings it writes itself (model pins, context windows, view modes, scheduled tasks) so your computers re-read them at once, while a remote-fleet screen is open. It re-reads the account settings it shows when a computer changes them. Everything else reaches the phone through its paired computer, as before. The phone's own list of computers (desktop switcher) is unchanged.

## Limits

- The signal travels through the end-to-end encrypted relay and only says which setting changed, never its value: the computers then read the value from your account.
- When the relay cannot be reached, each computer falls back to re-reading settings when its window gets the focus back, and every 30 minutes at most.
- What stays on each computer by design: file paths, signed-in CLI sessions, the theme, the window layout.

## Common questions

- **I changed the order of my servers on one computer, do I need to restart the other one?** No, since 2026-10-16 the order follows your account and the other computer updates within a second.
- **How often are settings synced?** Immediately when both computers are on; at reconnection otherwise.
- **Why is a computer missing from Machines?** It has never run AgentsRoom signed in to this account since the list exists, or it was removed from the list and has not started since.
- **What does AgentsRoom keep about my computers?** Their name, operating system and when they were last seen. Nothing else.
