# Gift a year of Pro

## What it does

You can buy one year of AgentsRoom Pro for someone else. It is a single payment at the annual Pro price, and nothing renews. You get a single-use code that your friend activates on their own account: it adds twelve months of Pro, on desktop and mobile. The code works once, on any account, and never expires.

## Where to find it

- Buying: on the website only, on the **Give a year of Pro** page, reached from the link **Give a year of Pro as a gift** under the Pro card of the Pricing page, from your account page, or from the desktop card below (it opens the website).
- Activating, desktop: **Settings > Account**, card **Gift code** ("Activate a year of Pro someone gave you, or give one.").
- Activating, website: the **Activate your gift** page (link **Activate your code** on the gift page), or the gifts block of your account page.
- Activating, mobile: Settings, **Gift code** row of the account card (Android only, see Mobile).

## How to use it

To give:
1. Sign in on the website ("Sign in to buy a gift. The code stays in your account, so you can never lose it.").
2. Optionally fill **Friend's e-mail (optional)**, **Your name, as they will see it (optional)** and **A short message (optional)**. Leave the e-mail empty to hand the code over yourself.
3. Click **Pay {price} for one year** and complete the payment.
4. The page **Your gift is ready** shows the code with **Copy**. It is also e-mailed to you, and to your friend when you typed their e-mail. Your account page lists every code you bought with its status: **Not activated yet**, **Sent to {email}, not activated yet** or **Activated**.

To activate:
1. Sign in, or create a free account first: the year of Pro is added to it.
2. Paste the code in the **Gift code** field and click **Activate**.
3. The confirmation reads "Done! You are Pro until {date}."

## Mobile

Buying a gift is not possible from the phone, and the app does not link to the gift page (App Store rules on selling digital goods). Activating a code works on Android, in the **Gift code** row of the account card in Settings. On iPhone and iPad there is no field to activate a code; activate it on the website or in the desktop app, and the Pro year then shows on the phone too, since the plan comes from your account.

## Limits

- One duration only: twelve months.
- The price is the annual Pro price shown on the gift page; regional discounts of the Pricing page do not apply to gifts.
- An account that pays a Pro subscription that renews (card or App Store) cannot activate a code: "Your account already has a Pro subscription that renews. Cancel it first, then activate the code: it will still be valid."
- The twelve months are added after any Pro period already running, not on top of the same days.
- A code works once: "This code has already been activated." A mistyped code: "This code does not exist. Check it and try again."
- When gifts cannot be sold at the moment, the button reads **Gifts are unavailable right now**.

## Common questions

- **Does my friend need an account?** Yes, a free account is enough. The year of Pro is attached to the account that activates the code.
- **Will my card be charged again next year?** No. A gift is one payment, nothing renews.
- **I lost the code.** The buyer finds it again on their account page, with its status.
- **I already pay for Pro, can I use a gift code?** Cancel your renewing subscription first, then activate the code; it stays valid in the meantime.
- **Does the code expire?** No.
- **Can I activate it on my iPhone?** Not on iPhone or iPad. Use the website or the desktop app (Settings > Account > Gift code), or the Android app.
