## What it does

By default, an agent's card and console header show what it is working on: the session title it picked on its first turn, the backlog ticket it handles, or a name you typed. With many saved agents (Cody, Thrawn...) every card shows a task and you can no longer tell which agent is which. The label mode lets each project choose: the task title, the agent's name, or both ("Cody · rc.1 integration").

## Where to find it

In a project, the search field at the top of the agent list has a **tag** button (**Agent label**), next to the history button. It opens a menu with three choices: **Task title**, **Agent name**, **Name · Title**. The button is tinted while the project is on a name mode.

## How to use it

1. Click the tag button in the agent list search field.
2. Pick **Name · Title** to see the agent's name first, then its task. An agent with no task yet shows its name alone.
3. Pick **Agent name** to always see the name only, or **Task title** to go back to the default.

The agent's name is the one given at creation (or the rename), otherwise its role name. The choice applies at once to every card, the console header, the pills of the right panel and the other places that name agents in this project. Renaming the session from the console header still edits the session title only, never the composed label.

## Settings

- `agentLabelMode` (project, agent list search field > Agent label): `title` (default, task title), `name` (always the agent's name) or `both` ("Name · Title"). Stored on your account, so it follows you on your other computers and on the phone.

## Agent tools (MCP)

- `settings_set` with `scope: "project"` and key `agentLabelMode`: switch the mode for this project. `settings_get` reads it.

## Providers

All providers, no difference.

## Mobile

The phone shows the same label as the desktop (agent rows and console header) by reading the project's setting from your account. The choice itself is made on the desktop.

## Limits

- Team run steps keep their own label ("step · task"), which already names the step.
- The project assistant keeps its name whatever the mode.
- Agents still find each other by task title in the agent directory: the mode only changes what you see.

## Common questions

- **Why does my agent's tab show a task title instead of its name?** That is the default **Task title** mode. Switch the project to **Name · Title** or **Agent name** with the tag button of the agent list search field.
- **Can I see both the agent's name and what it is doing?** Yes, **Name · Title** shows "Cody · rc.1 integration".
- **Is it per project?** Yes, each project keeps its own choice, synced on your account.
